Schools are indispensable in our society. Hundreds of children or young adults gather there to prepare for adult life. They learn to read, write, do math, solve problems, behave and know the way of the world. That requires much concentration, and let that be exactly where the shoe pinches. Because when hundreds of young souls come together, they bring much noise. According to systematic research, this is one of the leading causes of concentration problems and, consequently, even learning difficulties.
In a kindergarten, creative stimulation is paramount. Total silence where children cannot express themselves is the opposite of what we want. But preschoolers can gibber, screech and scream just as loudly that it becomes untenable for everyone, including themselves. Acoustic partitions or playful acoustic wall elements in different colours and shapes can dampen excessive sound while speaking to the creative imagination of preschoolers.
Elementary school lays the foundation for a lifetime of learning. Children learn to read, write, do math and express themselves beautifully. But young children are enormously active and often easily distracted. A full day of learning and concentration demands a lot from them. Acoustic optimizations in a classroom such as acoustic wall panels, sound-absorbing partitions or acoustic ceiling panels, dampen ambient noise. This way, they reduce distractions so that children can concentrate better.
High schools are often much more significant than preschools and elementary schools. More children, larger classes, longer hallways and others. This all adds up to poorer acoustics and more reverberation. And that can distract students in lessons, especially as the subject matter becomes more and more difficult. So a targeted approach to acoustic optimization in problem areas such as corridors, stairwells, gymnasiums, refectories and music classrooms can make a huge difference.
In colleges and universities, hundreds of students sit together in large auditoriums. The long, heavy class periods also require maximum concentration. Fortunately, halls also offer many opportunities for acoustic solutions together with a road-mapped acoustic plan that can provide a pleasant teaching environment where students develop into indispensable values in our society.
